A Stafford man wanted for drug charges added more drug charges after being located late Tuesday.

On March 21st at approximately 10:12 p.m. First Sergeant D.F. Purcell was traveling Southbound on Interstate 95 near mile marker 136 when he observed a vehicle merge without signaling. The vehicle continued to merge from lane to lane without signaling, all while traveling above the speed limit. First Sergeant Purcell initiated a traffic stop to see what was afoot.

First Sergeant Purcell made contact with the driver and the passenger. The passenger was very hesitant identifying himself, but eventually did. He identified himself as William Van Hoy, 29, who, as it turns out, was wanted out of Stafford County for the distribution of controlled substances. Van Hoy was subsequently placed in handcuffs.

A search of the vehicle revealed fives bags of suspected controlled substances belonging to Van Hoy. Van Hoy was transported to Rappahannock Regional Jail where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance, transportation of controlled substances into Virginia greater than 1 Oz, as well as, served on his outstanding warrant. He was held without bond. The driver was released with no charges.
