A Stafford woman spent time down at Rappahannock Regional Jail after deciding to drink and drive, all with her child in the backseat.

On March 17th at approximately 12:05 a.m. Deputy L.T. Ward was on Cambridge Street when he observed a vehicle traveling 75 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. Deputy Ward initiated a traffic stop at the Fas Mart, located at 620 Cambridge Street as Deputy S.A. Fulford responded to assist. Inside the vehicle was the driver, and her 3-year-old daughter.

The driver advised she was speeding due to her running late to work and had to be there at 10 p.m. Not only was she already late, but she had lethargic movements, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. That driver later admitted to consuming two beers and a shot prior to driving.

After the field sobriety tests the driver was placed into handcuffs. She was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15% and .2%, reckless driving, and child endangerment. Deputy Ward transported her to Rappahannock Regional Jail as Deputy Fulford turned the child over to a responsible family member. The driver was held on a $3,000 secured bond.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
