It is customary to rise when the judge enters a courtroom; however, a King George man waiting for his case in Stafford courts appeared too intoxicated to stand.

At approximately 10:15 a.m. court was in session. Deputy J.B. Placke was assigned to one of the Juvenile Courtrooms when she received a report of a possible drunk male sitting in front of the General District Courtrooms. Deputy Placke made contact with the man who was red in the face, slouched over, and had the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. When the man noticed Deputy Placke, he held his hands out expecting to be placed in handcuffs.

The reason the man was in court, he had a DUI case.

As their conversation continued, the man advised he drank about half a gallon of vodka prior to being driven to court. It was also discovered the man was wanted out of Stafford County for a capias. Deputy Placke charged the man with public intoxication, as well as, served him on his outstanding warrant. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Luckily, he knows where to go for his next court hearing.
