You’ve got to know when to hold them and know when to fold them. A drunk Stafford man received a losing hand, which resulted in Rappahannock Regional Jail receiving a Full House.

On February 21st at approximately 12:28 a.m. Deputy J.W. Ahern responded to a report of an intoxicated person inside 7-Eleven located at 201 Garrisonville Road. When Deputy Ahern arrived on scene, he located the suspect testing his luck on a gambling machine. As the pair conversed, Deputy Ahern noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the man’s breath and he had slurred speech.

Deputy Ahern attempted to place the suspect in handcuffs, to which the suspect thought he was bluffing and attempted to walk away. Deputy Ahern was able to place him in handcuffs as the suspect decided to raise the stakes and become less than cooperative. A suspected controlled substance was also located on his person. What are the odds?

The suspect’s gamble earned him a ride to Rappahannock Regional Jail. He also made multiple threats towards Deputy Ahern and jail staff. The suspect was charged with public intoxication, possession of a controlled substance, and obstruction by threats. A bond amount couldn’t be dealt out due to the suspect’s refusal to participate in a bond hearing.
