Recently, many Stafford residents have noticed spray painted Z’s around North Stafford. We are happy to report the vandalizer has been identified and arrested.

On January 22nd at approximately 5:31 p.m. Deputy E.T. Osborn responded to a call of a vandalism. The victim had their garage door spray painted with the letter Z. This would be the first incident of graffiti in Stafford. Throughout the week, multiple Z’s would be located on homes, street signs, businesses, and even the Ford T. Humphrey Public Safety Building (Sheriff's Office) sign.

On January 25th at 11:57 a.m. Deputy M.L. Warnick responded to McDonald’s located at 303 Town Center Boulevard. They had also been struck with the mysterious Z; however, they had video of the incident. Surveillance footage showed the suspect in his vehicle at the drive-through before defacing the property. Using the video Deputy Warnick was able to identity the suspect. The 22-year-old Prince William County man was also wanted out of Stafford for failure to appear. This morning, Deputy Warnick was able to locate the suspect and arrested him for the vandalisms and his outstanding warrant.

The suspect advised he refers to himself as “Zack Black,” and that was his motivation for spray painting Z’s. The suspect was charged with nine counts of vandalism, as well as, served on his outstanding warrant. He is currently being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Great work to all the deputies and detectives involved, especially to Deputy Warnick. Due to her hard work another wanted individual has been located and served on his warrants.
