An alcohol theft at a North Stafford convenience store was solved after the suspect was arrested for public intoxication several hours later.

On November 6th at 5:55 a.m. Deputy T.M. Givler responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Circle K convenience store on Prosperity Lane. The clerk advised the suspect selected a carton of Vendage Chardonnay, valued at $7.49, and left the store without paying. The area was checked, but the oenophile had vanished like a Washington Commander’s winning streak.

Fast forward to 3:47 p.m., when the Emergency Communications Center received a call for an intoxicated woman in the lobby of Home 2 Suites at 3501 Richmond Highway. Deputy E.E. West located the inebriated woman walking southbound from the hotel and identified her as Ronasia Williams, 28, of Stafford.

Williams had glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage. She was placed under arrest for public intoxication. Deputy Givler responded to the scene, and based on surveillance video from the Circle K, identified Williams as the suspect of the earlier wine heist.

Williams was charged with public intoxication and shoplifting. She was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
