A Woodbridge man is staying at Rappahannock Regional Jail for a little while after a concerned citizen called police.

On November 3rd, at approximately 12:55 a.m. Deputy S.C. Jett responded to the Circle K located at 34 Prosperity Road for a report of a possible intoxicated person. The caller observed a man exit a white Ford Explorer and stumble into the store.

When Deputy Jett arrived on scene, he made contact with Dwight Brown, 52. It was clear Brown was under the influence due to him having glassy, droopy, bloodshot eyes, he was staggering as he walked and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Brown was attempting to get back into his vehicle when Deputy Jett stopped him.

As Deputy Jett talked with Brown, other deputies obtained store surveillance footage of what transpired before they arrived. Video showed Brown pull into the parking lot before walking into the store giving enough evidence to charge Brown with driving under the influence. It was also discovered, Brown’s license was revoked due to a prior DUI charge.

Brown was charged with driving under the influence second offense in five years, driving with a revoked license, refusal of test, obstruction of justice, as well as, having fictitious registration. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Great work to Deputy Jett for taking another drunk driver off the road and for the resident that made the initial call. Drive sober or get pulled over.
