A Spotsylvania women started Tuesday off by entering Rappahannock Regional Jail after assaulting law enforcement.

On October 25th, at approximately 12:49 a.m. deputies responded to the Comfort Suites located at 541 Warrenton Road for a call of a disturbance. The caller advised there were loud noises coming from a certain room. Deputy A.J. Charoenthep and D.L. Brookman Jr. knocked on the door and were able to make contact with Dandy Castanon, 22.

Castanon was in an intoxicated state and was advised hotel staff wanted her to leave. When Castanon and deputies came downstairs to the lobby, Castanon started to become hostile and yelled at deputies. As she continued to be disorderly, Deputies placed her under arrest. Castanon did not like hearing that and attempted to kick Deputy Brookman. Deputy Brookman dodged her attack and handcuffs were placed on Castanon. She also attempted to spit at deputies. While placing Castanon in Deputy Charoenthep’s vehicle, Castanon began kicking Deputy Brookman again. She was eventually placed in a leg restraint for transportation to the magistrate.

Castanon was charged with disorderly conduct, simple assault and assault and battery on law enforcement. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on an unsecured bond. Great job to Deputy Charoenthep and Deputy Brookman for remaining calm and professional during a difficult interaction.
