Deputies comforted an infant and ensured she was cared for after an incident at a South Stafford convenience store yesterday evening.

On September 17th at 5:50 p.m. deputies responded to a medical emergency in the area of Ferry Road and Randolph Road. As the investigation unfolded, deputies linked a vehicle at the White Oak 7-Eleven at 552 White Oak Road to the incident.

A one-month-old infant was discovered unattended in the vehicle. Deputy A.M. Pitts comforted the baby as contact was made with the father, Joseph Carratura, 32, of Farnham, Virginia. Carratura had been near the scene of the earlier medical emergency and was instructed to come pick up the child. Although he indicated he would come to the convenience store, forty-five minutes later he had yet to arrive.

The infant was turned over to Child Protective Services. Deputies are very interested in speaking with Carratura. If you have any information on his location, please contact our office at 540-658-4400.

Meanwhile, deputies encountered Leonard Fines, 47, of Spotsylvania at the 7-Eleven. He was found to be wanted on a Stafford County probation violation. Fines was arrested and held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Thank you to the deputies for their investigation on this case and ensuring this infant is properly cared for. This is an ongoing investigation.
