A Stafford woman spent Labor Day Weekend in jail after a verbal argument escalated.

On September 3rd, at 3:17 a.m. Deputy R.T. Philippsen responded to a call of a disturbance with a weapon. The caller also advised the suspect might be intoxicated and was threatening people. When Deputy Philippsen arrived on scene, he made contact with Yolanda Kirtz, 43, who matched the description provided. Kirtz had glassy, bloodshot eyes and admitted to consuming alcohol.

The victim advised they got into a verbal argument when Kirtz threatened the victim with a box cutter. Kirtz still had the box cutter when deputies arrived, and it was seized without incident. The victim did not want to press charges for simple assault.

Kirtz was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. During the search incident to arrest, suspected controlled substances were located on her person. She was transported to Rappahannock Regional Jail. While being searched, Kirtz was found to have more suspected controlled substances located in her bra. Kirtz was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, as well as, possession of a controlled substance by a prisoner. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
