A Stafford man was jailed this weekend after he impersonated a law enforcement officer and served legal documents on his leasing office.

On August 26th Deputy T.A. Vasquez responded to a disturbance on Green Tree Road. He met with the leasing office and learned Tyrone Tutson, 38, was served on an eviction notice earlier in the day. In return, Tutson created nine unlawful detainers and “served” them on the leasing office. Tutson allegedly told the office he was a detective with the Department of Justice.

Deputies located Tutson nearby and conducted an interview. Tutson reported he executed the unlawful detainers by signing in the law enforcement section since he is a detective with DOJ and has jurisdiction over the Sheriff. He had created and printed the legal documents at the library. Tutson proceeded to offer the deputies his law enforcement credentials, which showed he was a sales representative for the Department of Criminal Justice Services, and even that status expired in 2009. Deputies also learned Tutson had impersonated law enforcement earlier in the day during a disturbance with another resident in the complex.

Tutson was arrested and charged with uttering and impersonation. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 bond.
