A revoked driver was arrested early Tuesday morning after a deputy recognized him operating a vehicle in South Stafford. Although he switched seats with a passenger during the traffic stop, the ruse failed to fool the deputy.

On April 26th at 1:25 a.m. Deputy R.S. Dominguez saw Neil Lamb, Jr., 28, of Stafford driving a black Toyota Prius on South Gateway Drive. Deputy Dominguez knew Lamb was revoked for a prior DUI. A traffic stop was conducted on Warrenton Road at the I-95 ramp.

As the Prius came to a stop, and Deputy Dominguez illuminated the rear of the car with his lights, he witnessed Lamb switch seats with a passenger identified as Megan Blanton, 25, of Stafford. The old switcheroo did not have the desired effect as both Lamb and Blanton were ultimately arrested.

Lamb had bloodshot, glassy eyes and an odor of alcoholic beverage. He was arrested, but continued to deny he had been driving. He was charged with DUI third offense in five to ten years, refusal, drive revoked and obstruction of justice. Lamb was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Blanton, who had climbed behind the wheel of the still running vehicle was also arrested for DUI and obstruction. She was released by the magistrate on an unsecure bond.

Drive sober and licensed or get pulled over.
