A suspected intoxicated driver was arrested yesterday after attracting law enforcement attention with an illegal U-turn.

On March 29th at 12:17 a.m. Deputy R.S. Dominguez witnessed a driver make an illegal U-turn at the intersection of Warrenton Road and Olde Forge Drive. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Marcus Johnson, 33, of Dumfries.

Deputy Dominguez detected the odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle and noticed Johnson had slurred speech and glassy eyes. Field sobriety tests were offered and Johnson was arrested. Additionally, Johnson was found to have a suspended driver’s license.

Johnson was charged with DUI, refusal, drinking while driving, driving suspended and the illegal U-turn. He was ordered held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
