Two drivers were arrested for driving under the influence Saturday evening after they were seen racing at a high-rate of speed on Kings Highway.

On April 17 at 7:38 p.m., Deputy C.S. Haines was parked in the area of the 1000 block of Kings Highway when he observed a group of sports cars approaching his location. A Dodge Challenger and a Dodge Charger were seen at the front of the group. The two vehicles accelerated rapidly and began racing parallel to one another. As the vehicles passed Deputy Haines, he estimated the vehicles were traveling over 100 mph.

Deputy Haines then began to try to catch-up to the speeding vehicles. The vehicles slowed allowing Deputy Haines to catch-up. He conducted a traffic stop on the Challenger while Deputy D.S. Jett stopped the Charger.

Deputy Haines identified the driver of the Challenger as Sean Asjodi, 35, of Manassas. Asjodi smelled of alcoholic beverages and had slurred speech. Field sobriety tests were administered and Asjodi was arrested.

Deputy Jett spoke with the driver of the Charger and identified her as Jessica Meekins, 25, of Woodbridge. Meekins had glassy eyes and smelled of alcoholic beverages. Field sobriety tests were administered and Meekins was arrested as well.

Both Asjodi and Meekins were charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving by racing. Asjodi was held until sober at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $6,000 unsecured bond. Meekins was released on a personal recognizance bond by the magistrate, so no booking photo was taken.
