A suspect is in custody after he threatened to fight customers at a local convenience store.

On October 25 at approximately 7:25 p.m., deputies were called to 2142 Jefferson Davis Highway (Fas Mart) for a report of a disturbance. Deputy E.R. Houde arrived on scene and was told the suspect was asking customers to come out of the store and fight him. The deputy spoke with the suspect, Jeffrey Kerr, 40, of Orange, and noticed Kerr smelled of alcoholic beverages. It was also determined Kerr had driven to the business. Kerr was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and driving under the influence.

During the interaction, Kerr became increasingly defiant and began cursing at deputies. Kerr resisted the deputies’ repeated attempts to place him in a patrol vehicle. OC spray was eventually utilized and Kerr was successfully put in the rear of the patrol vehicle.

Kerr was charged with driving under the influence, obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct, refusal of test, and driving without a license. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 secured bond.
