Stafford, VA. A suspect wanted on numerous active warrants was arrested by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday night following a pursuit.

On March 24, 2020, at approximately 6:42 p.m., Sgt. Flick and Deputy Mangan observed a wanted suspect leaving the parking lot of the Suburban Extended Stay located at 3097 Jefferson Davis Highway. The Special Investigations Unit advised them that the suspect was wanted on numerous warrants out of multiple jurisdictions.

Deputy Mangan then activated his emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Jefferson Davis Highway. However, the suspect vehicle continued traveling and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit continued onto Interstate 95 northbound. Deputies attempted to conduct a rolling road block to stop the vehicle at mile marker 146. At this time, the suspect vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and made contact with Deputy Mangan’s cruiser, causing it to become partially disabled.

Sgt. Flick then took over the pursuit and followed the vehicle into Prince William County. At mile marker 150, he conducted a PIT maneuver, which caused the suspect vehicle to swerve and strike a jersey wall. The driver attempted to continue traveling, striking Sgt. Flick’s cruiser. Deputy Mangan then drove in front of the suspect vehicle, preventing it from fleeing.

The suspect was identified as April Campbell, 32, of Lynchburg, VA. She was taken into custody and evaluated by rescue personnel. Deputies then learned that Campbell was an inmate of Alleghany County Jail and was out on furlough.

She was taken into custody and incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond on her outstanding warrants including forging public records out of Roanoke County, identity theft out of Roanoke County, driving suspended out of Roanoke County, false identity of self to law enforcement out of Roanoke County, contempt of court out of Lynchburg, and revocation of suspended sentence or probation out of Alleghany County.

She also received additional charges from Stafford County for eluding police, reckless driving, assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, driving suspended, and escape without force by a felon.
