Stafford, VA. Two suspects were arrested late on Monday night by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office following an altercation at a Wawa convenience store.

On February 25, 2019, at approximately 11:55 p.m., Deputy Fulford responded to a call regarding a suspicious person at the Wawa located at 275 Butler Road. Upon arrival, he located a male and female subject arguing outside the store. The deputy detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from both subjects.

The female subject was identified as Tashia Smith, 37, of Fredericksburg who was wanted out of Stafford County on drug-related charges. She was taken into custody on her outstanding warrant and received an additional charge for public intoxication. She was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3000.00 unsecured bond.

In the meantime, Sgt. Aubry responded to the scene and identified the male subject as Michael Watson, 40, of Fredericksburg. Security video footage revealed Watson driving a vehicle into the Wawa parking lot at 11:54 p.m. Sgt. Aubry detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the suspect. He also had bloodshot, glassy eyes. Field sobriety tests were subsequently conducted.

Watson was taken into custody and incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail on charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
