Stafford, VA. A suspect who fled from law enforcement after deputies spotted him in a stolen vehicle was arrested on Thursday by the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

On February 13, 2019, Deputy Kellam responded to the 200 block of Regina Lane in reference to a stolen vehicle. A female subject reported that someone had stolen her running vehicle parked in front of her residence.

Deputy Kellam began canvassing the area and located the stolen vehicle parked on the 500 block of Kensington Drive. When the driver saw the deputy, he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Shortly thereafter, the deputy lost sight of the suspect.

The drone team along with Deputy Smith and his K9 partner, Lobo, arrived on scene to attempt to track the suspect. They searched the surrounding area, including the Giant grocery store located at 35 Town and Country Drive, but were unable to locate the suspect at the time.

The Sheriff’s Office later received information on the identity of the suspect. A 15-year-old juvenile was taken into custody on Thursday, February 14, 2019. He has been charged with grand larceny, obstruction of justice, and vehicle tampering.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for their assistance and Deputy M. Warnick for her assistance in identifying and locating the suspect.
