The Public Information Office is responsible for the dissemination of all information and material that goes out to the media. The Public Information Officer is the point of contact for the various media representatives as well as for the community at large. The PIO responds to information requests as well as initiating informational releases. 

The Public Information Office is also responsible for various projects as assigned by the Sheriff including the Annual Report and the Department web site.

2009 Media Facts

In the year 2009, the Public Information Office handled 30 television interviews, 58 radio interviews and over 855 media contacts by phone. Area newspapers published 397 articles dealing with information about the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. In addition, in 2009, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office was featured in a National Law Enforcement magazine and America’s Most Wanted featured a story on their television show highlighting a murder suspect that is being sought by the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshall’s Service. ABC 7 News also included members of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit in an hour long show devoted to teen driving.

2008 Media Facts

In the year 2008, the Public Information Office handled 32 television interviews, 101 radio interviews and over 1,000 media contacts by phone.  Area newspapers published 400 articles dealing with information about the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.  In addition, in 2008, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office was featured on the covers of two National Law Enforcement magazines.
