Stafford, VA. A suspect was arrested early Thursday morning by units with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office following a pursuit on Warrenton Road.

On May 23, 2019, at approximately 1:58 a.m., Deputy Simpson observed a vehicle merging onto Warrenton Road northbound from Interstate 95 at a high rate of speed. The deputy activated his emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle did not stop. A pursuit ensued, and additional units responded to assist.

The suspect vehicle eventually came to a stop at the 2700 block of Warrenton Road. Units commanded the driver to exit the vehicle, but the driver repeatedly failed to comply with their commands. Deputies then extracted the driver from the vehicle and he continued to resist.

The driver was taken into custody and identified as William Strasburg, 46, of Fairfax, VA. He was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond on charges of felony eluding, reckless driving, obstruction of justice, and no state vehicle inspection sticker.
