HUMAN SKELETAL REMAINS FOUND

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that human skeletal remains have been located in a wooded area off of Mine Road, Stafford near Highpointe Blvd.

At approximately 6:30 pm last night, Sunday, October 18, 2015 Stafford deputies responded to the area near Mine Road for a report of human skeletal remains found in the woods. Two individuals who were practicing their bow hunting skills came across a human skull and some additional human bones in the wooded area off of Mine Road near Highpointe Blvd. It was clear that the remains had been there for a long period of time. Stafford detectives are currently on scene investigating. Once Stafford County completes its initial investigation at the scene, the remains will be sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond for possible identification and cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.
