ROUTE 17 SOUTHBOUND REDUCED TO SINGLE LANE TONIGHT, WEDNESDAY

Paving and lane striping will be underway this week in Stafford County

FREDERICKSBURG – Route 17 southbound in Stafford County will be reduced to a single lane tonight and Wednesday night between Cardinal Forest Drive and Banks Ford Parkway.

Tonight, one southbound lane will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for paving.

On Wednesday, July 9, one southbound lane will be closed from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. so crews can paint lane markings on the new pavement.

This work is in connection with a project underway to reduce congestion on Route 17 by widening it to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway. Additional asphalt is being applied to raise the elevation of the southbound lanes, improve drainage, and prepare for a temporary traffic pattern.

Real-time listings of work zones, congestion and incident information is available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org.
