Stafford, Va. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is joining law enforcement officers across the nation during the national Click it Or Ticket Campaign. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, along with the DMV’s Virginia Highway Safety Office encourages everyone on the road to wear their safety belts during every trip, every day and every night.

Stafford Deputies will be looking for safety belt violators, especially during this Click It Or Ticket campaign.

Local law enforcement officers are trained to spot seat belt violations, anytime of the day or night. Last year in Virginia, 54 percent of all traffic fatalities, or 310 deaths, were unrestrained drivers and passengers.

“It is clear that wearing safety belts saves lives,” states Sheriff Charles Jett. “After you put your seat belt on make sure all of your passengers are doing the same thing. If you have young people in the vehicle with you model appropriate behavior. Show them that wearing a seat belt is a life- saving practice.”
