Stafford County
Interstate 95 Pothole repairs continue on I-95 north and south between mile marker 148 in Stafford County and mile marker 160 in Prince William County. Motorists should expect delays in the mobile work zone on the following days: • Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.; one lane closed • Tuesday and Thursday, 9 p.m. – 2 a.m.; two lanes closed
West Cambridge Street (New) Beginning Friday, May 2 a new traffic pattern will be in place on West Cambridge Street in connection with the Falmouth Intersection Improvement Project. The following changes will be in effect for the duration of the project:
• No left turn from Route 1 north onto West Cambridge Street. • No right turn from West Cambridge Street to Route 1 south (crossing the Falmouth Bridge). • No left turn from West Cambridge Street to Route 1 north.
West Cambridge Street will be closed to traffic from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to prepare for the conversion. Message boards will be posted on Route 1 and West Cambridge Street alerting drivers of the new traffic pattern.
Route 630 (Courthouse Road) (New) Beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 3 Route 630 (Courthouse Road) will be closed to traffic from Route 1 to Andrew Chapel Road. During the closure traffic will be detoured to Andrew Chapel Road to Brooke Road to Eskimo Hill Road then back to Route 1. Courthouse Road is expected to reopen to traffic by noon. Spotsylvania County
Route 608 (West Catharpin Road) Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; crews will continue milling and paving on Route 608 (West Catharpin Rd.) between the Orange County line and Route 612 (Catharpin Road) at the east overlap. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
Route 614 (Dickerson Road) (New) Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; crews will be patching on Route 614 from the dead end to Route 601 (Lewiston Road). Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
Ruffins Pond Subdivision Monday – Friday; the resurfacing project continues in the Ruffins Pond subdivision. Crews will be working from daylight to dusk at the following locations:
Interstate 95 (New) Tuesday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; motorists will be restricted to one lane on I-95 north and south between the Hanover County line and Exit 104 (Rt. 207/Carmel Church) while crews inspect the bridge over the CSX railroad. Motorists should expect delays in this area.
Route 301 Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; motorists will be restricted to one lane on the northbound side of Route 301 from the north end of the Mattaponi River Bridge to just south of Route 721. Crews will be milling and paving in this area.
Under Construction
Caroline County
Route 639 Widening Route 639 is being widened, creating a left new left turn lane near the Route 1 intersection. During construction the posted speed limit will be lowered to 35 mph in the work zone. One lane will remain open in each direction during construction. Motorists should be alert to traffic pattern changes in this area. The project completion date is May 2015.
City of Fredericksburg
Fall Hill Avenue Fall Hill Avenue is closed to all traffic at the Rappahannock Canal bridge through November 2014 for a bridge replacement project. Motorists should use Cowan Boulevard as a detour route.
King George County
Route 206 The intersection of Route 206, Owens Drive and Windsor Drive is being widened to accommodate new left turn lanes and right turn lanes. Single lane closures will be in place weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Project completion date is December 2014.
Stafford County
Route 17 Route 17 is being widened from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to International Parkway. Motorists should be alert to changes in the traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. Project completion date is December 2016.
Route 1 Bridge over Aquia Creek Crews are replacing the Route 1 bridge at Aquia Creek, located just south of Telegraph Road. Motorists should be alert to construction equipment entering and exiting the work zone and periodic lane closures. Estimated completion date is August 2015.
Falmouth Intersection (Route 1/Route 17/Route 218) Construction is underway. Motorists should be prepared for brief delays and periodic lane closures on Butler Road and Route 1 just north and south of the Falmouth intersection. The project is expected to be complete by fall 2015.
