ROAD CONDITIONS IMPROVE ACROSS THE STATE WHILE ANOTHER STORM IS ON ITS WAY VDOT gets ready for another round of winter weather beginning late tonight and early tomorrow As temperatures increase, ice and snow are melting on affected roadways, resulting in wet surfaces. Motorists should watch for snow and icy patches on bridges, overpasses and shady areas. All major roadways are clear across the state. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews will continue to treat icy spots as necessary. Crews are preparing for another round of winter weather expected to impact the western and northwestern regions of the state beginning late tonight and into tomorrow morning. Prior to the second storm, VDOT crews will treat roads to prevent ice and snow from sticking. Once precipitation hits, crews will treat roads to clear snow and increase traction to prevent slick driving conditions. When snow and ice fall, motorists are urged to stay off the roads as much as possible. Before getting behind the wheel of your vehicle, call 511 or visit www.511virginia.org to get the latest road conditions.
