NEWS RELEASE

ROUTE 17 CROSSOVER CLOSED IN STAFFORD
Signal pole damage has closed the median crossover at Stafford Lakes Parkway

FREDERICKSBURG – A median crossover on Route 17 at Stafford Lakes Parkway is closed due to a crash involving signal pole damage at the intersection.

The crossover will remain closed overnight, and is expected to re-open to traffic Tuesday morning.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will remove the damaged equipment this evening, and will install a temporary signal pole and mast arm at the intersection.

Northbound and southbound motorists on Route 17 will not be allowed to turn left at Stafford Lakes Parkway while the crossover is closed.

Motorists should make a U-turn at the next available traffic signal, and proceed north or south on Route 17 to reach their destination.

Earlier today, both lanes of Route 17 southbound were closed at Stafford Lakes Parkway due to a crash involving the signal pole. One southbound lane of Route 17 is now open. VDOT personnel are on scene to provide traffic control.

Real-time listings of travel times, work zones, and traffic incidents in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
