UTILITY WORK TO CLOSE CARTER STREET ON MONDAY

Road will be closed to through traffic for gas line relocation during daytime hours

FREDERICKSBURG – Carter Street in Stafford County will be closed between Route 1 and Route 218 (Butler Road) to through traffic from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Monday, July 1 so utility crews can relocate a gas line.

Local traffic on Carter Street will be granted access during the work.

Utility lines are being moved underground at the intersection of Route 1, Route 17 Business and Route 218 prior to construction starting on the Falmouth Intersection Improvement Project in early 2014. The project will be advertised for construction in November 2013. New turn lanes and through lanes will be built to advance more traffic through the intersection on each signal cycle, reducing motorist delay.
