The goal of this grant is to improve the safety and success of nighttime operations of Sheriff's Office personnel. The primary objective is to deploy equipment to those in night operations that would allow them to have better control during low light conditions without giving up tactical advantage by using light.

The grant will allow us to safely deploy personnel in nighttime operations without the use of light to give away our tactical advantage. Our canine handlers tracking at night would have the advantage of night vision without the danger of light. The use of the equipment-tactical to search at night would allow Deputies to scan from cover distances without giving away their position and would make their firearms capable during low light or no light situations. This would greatly improve officer safety and surveillance capability. Many of those surveillance situations occurring at night involve human trafficking and the use of night vision in those situations would be invaluable.
