FUGITIVE ARRESTED

Stafford, Va. The Stafford County Sheriff's Office reports the arrest of Jonathan James Bagwell, age 51, of no fixed address. Bagwell was arrested in a hotel near the North East Philadelphia Airport this morning by members of the United States Marshal Service Richmond/Philadelphia Fugitive Task Force. Jonathan Bagwell had been wanted in Stafford County on two warrants for Failure to Appear and Revocation of Sentencing.

Jonathan Bagwell came to the attention of the Stafford County Sheriff's Office in 2008 when he allegedly defrauded a Stafford citizen. Bagwell convinced the citizen to invest in his fictitious cleaning company. Bagwell then used the citizen's name to purchase a lease on a building and buy other items, using the citizen's name, all without the citizen's permission. Stafford authorities charged Bagwell with charges to include Making False Statements to Obtain Credit and Obtaining Money/Property Under False Pretenses. Bagwell plead guilty to the charges but asked the court to allow him to stay out on bail pending his sentencing hearing due to a variety of illnesses. Bagwell was granted his request to stay out on bail. Bagwell's claims of being ill were not true. Jonathan Bagwell failed to appear at his sentencing hearing and was declared a fugitive.

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the United States Marshal Service in locating Bagwell. He was located this morning at the Four Points Hotel near the Philadelphia Airport and was taken into custody without incident.

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the United States Marshal Service for their assistance with this case.
