| STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – Earlier this year, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a possible murder-for-hire plot involving an incarcerated individual. The suspect, Christopher L. Tinnermon, had previously been charged and incarcerated for several sexual assault and obscenity offenses. Tinnermon was being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Through months of hard work, detectives were able to determine that Tinnermon was attempting to arrange the murder of the victim from his previous case. Detectives worked around the clock, demonstrating exceptional investigative skills, to gather all available evidence on Tinnermon and the murder-for-hire plot. On October 28, 2026, detectives interviewed Tinnermon. During the conversation, Tinnermon made statements that matched evidence gathered during the investigation. Search warrants were then executed. Later that day on October 28, 2026, Christopher L. Tinnermon, 51, of Stafford, was charged with one count of criminal solicitation to commit murder-for-hire and attempted aggravated murder-for-hire. Tinnermon remains held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
