On 12/9/2025, at approximately 9:58 a.m., Animal Control Deputy A. M. Harrah and Sergeant A. J. McCall responded to a residence for a barking dog complaint. At the residence, deputies confirmed that there were also chickens located on the property.

Contact was made with one of the residents of the home who agreed to walk with the deputies to show them the chickens. While examining the chickens, deputies observed numerous items of evidence indicative of cockfighting in plain view. Based on the items observed, the scene was secured and a search warrant was obtained for the property.

Two individuals were identified as being responsible for the chickens. Those individuals were Juan Juarez, 57, of Stafford and Juan Carlos Juarez Ayala, 34, of Stafford. In total, 243 chickens were seized from the property.

On 12/18/2025, Juarez and Juarez Ayala were both served on ten counts of felony animal fighting. Both subjects were held on a secure bond.
