A business had an earlier than expected opening when a 36-year-old Stafford man decided to break in.

On October 8th, at approximately 2:58 a.m. Deputy W.E. Trainor, Deputy F.A. Martinez, and Deputy C.A. Osborne responded to Lowe’s, located at 1330 Stafford Market Place, for a breaking and entering. When they arrived, deputies discovered a glass door had been kicked in.

Contact was made with a staff member who advised the suspect unlawfully entered the business moments ago. After being escorted out, the suspect took off on foot. A perimeter was established as Deputy Martinez and his K-9 partner, Mija, began tracking.

Deputy Osborne would be searching the area when he located a male that matched the description provided by staff. At the same time, Mija would track to the exact location the male was located. The male was detained and determined to be the suspect they were searching for.

The suspect was identified as Markus Lancaster. Lancaster admitted to breaking into the business because he was “looking for a place to charge my phone.” He was charged with breaking and entering, as well as, destruction of commercial property. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond.

A booking photo for Lancaster is not currently available.
