A driver under suspicion of driving under the influence attempted to prove her sobriety using unconventional means.

On September 21st, at approximately 12:38 a.m., Deputy S.A. Fulford responded to the area of Harrell Road and Forbes Street for an auto accident. Multiple callers advised a truck had partially gone off the roadway and struck a telephone pole. It was further advised the driver appeared intoxicated.

When Deputy Fulford arrived, he observed the F-150 in question stuck in a ditch. Upon making contact with the driver, she advised she hadn’t drunk anything and she was just “a bad driver.” It seemed the driver took more than a spoonful of sugar considering her signs of being under the influence. These signs included unsteady steps and slurred speech. In an attempt to prove her speech was not slurred, the driver voluntarily attempted to say “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” Considering that is not a standard DUI test and she was unable to properly say it, it did not help her case.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, and refusal. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.
