| A knife was seized from a student yesterday after a vigilant student reported the incident. On August 14th at approximately 9:25 a.m. Deputy L.T. Ward was conducting his SRO duties at H.H. Poole Middle School, located at 800 Eustace Road. While doing so, he was informed of a weapon offense. A student observed another student display a knife. Due to the seriousness of the allegation, Deputy Ward made contact with the student in question. At first, the student denied having any weapons this day or the day prior. Deputy Ward expressed the seriousness of the situation and the student admitted to being in possession of a knife. The bowie knife was located in the student’s laptop bag. A criminal complaint for weapon possession on school grounds was submitted. Juvenile Intake was contacted and decided to detain the juvenile. He was held at the Juvenile Detention Center. Good work to Deputy Ward for his quick actions, but especially to the student who noticed something wrong and spoke up. Remember, if you see something, say something. |
