| Being caught drunk behind the wheel is bad. Being caught driving drunk a second time with a stolen vehicle is worse. A 35-year-old Stafford man discovered this Saturday morning. On August 2nd at approximately 4:14 a.m. Deputy P.J. Leon responded to Wawa, located at 275 Butler Road, for a larceny. It was advised the victim entered the business for a cup of coffee. When he exited the business, he received a wake-up call stronger than your average cup of joe. The victim’s truck was gone. Using camera footage, Deputy Leon discovered another customer entered the victim’s truck. After chowing down on a quick snack, the suspect drove off. Luckily, the victim’s wife was able to track the truck and discovered it at a residence in South Stafford. With this information, deputies went to the address and located the stolen vehicle. The caught-on-camera suspect was identified as William Sullivan. Sullivan had overwhelming signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming “quite a few.” While he could recall having approximately five to six beers, he couldn’t recall how the stolen truck got there. Thanks to video evidence, deputies could and Sullivan was detained. Sullivan was charged with driving under the influence second offense within ten years and grand larceny. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. |
