A simple fender bender quickly escalated when one of the drivers decided to show off his mini-arsenal.

On May 6th at approximately 7:19 p.m. Deputy E.T. Osborn and Deputy T.W. Jenkins responded to the area of Warrenton Road and International Parkway for an auto accident. While responding, a verbal disturbance had broken out and now there was mention of weapons being involved. Due to the escalating situation, deputies quickly arrived to discover what occurred.

It was discovered the driver of a Subaru and the driver of a semi-truck had a collision while traveling on Warrenton Road. When both parties exited their vehicle, the Subaru driver brandished a shotgun towards the female semi-truck driver. The Subaru driver, who was open carrying at the time of the incident, admitted to retrieving his shotgun and using it as the “easiest deterrent.” A rifle would also be located.

The firearms were seized as evidence as the Subaru driver was charged with disorderly conduct and brandishing a firearm. He was released by the magistrate on personal recognizance.
