A number of narcotics were seized and four individuals were charged due to K-9 Mija over the weekend. On May 3rd at approximately 2:08 p.m. Deputy F.A. Martinez responded to McDonald’s, located at 44 Stanstead Road, for a public intoxication report. It was advised a female wearing a bright green shirt was possibly under the influence. The caller further advised the female was seen getting in and out of a packed Honda Civic. As Deputy Martinez responded to the scene, he observed the female in question still acting erratically. Deputy Martinez would make contact with all four occupants. The driver, identified as Jason Greenwood, 40, of King George, provided a false identity. The female, identified as Holly Hannah, 30, of Mount Jackson, was clearly under the influence. The other two passengers were identified as Charles Garber, 46, of Madison, and Karl Mullins, 52, of Maryland. Due to his suspicion that there was further criminal activity afoot, Deputy Martinez deployed his K-9 partner, Mija. Mija conducted an open-air sniff and alerted on the vehicle. Mullins suspected the alert was due to donuts being present in the vehicle; however, Mija is trained in detecting narcotics, not sugary sweets. Due to the alert, deputies had probable cause to search the vehicle. Suspected controlled substances were located in nearly every nook and cranny and the four were detained. Knowing the jig was up, Greenwood came clean about his real identity and was discovered to be wanted out of both King George and Westmoreland. At the jail, staff discovered Hannah had suspected controlled substances inside her. This was removed and resulted in additional charges. Greenwood was charged with possession of controlled substances, providing a false identity to law enforcement, identity theft, as well as, served on his outstanding offenses. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Hannah was charged with public intoxication, two counts of possession of controlled substances, and prisoner in possession of an unlawful compound. She was held without bond. Both Mullins and Garber were charged with possession of controlled substances. Mullins was held on a $2,000 secured bond while Garber was held on a $2,500 secured bond. Amazing work to both Deputy Martinez and his K-9 partner for removing dangerous substances from the streets of Stafford. |
