In an intoxicated frenzy, a 28-year-old Springfield man assaulted a deputy. On May 1st at approximately 9:36 p.m. deputies responded to the Motel 6, located at 2868 Richmond Highway, for a disturbance. It was advised a male decided the cement in front of the business was a good place to take a nap. When deputies arrived, they located the suspect in the fetal position on the ground. He would have signs of intoxication including the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. The suspect, later identified as Jacob Jones, admitted to consuming “one or two drinks.” During their interaction, Jones would get aggressive and assault a deputy twice. Luckily, the deputy was not injured. During his trip to the magistrate, Jones made his disapproval of being arrested well-known as he continued to resist. He was charged with public intoxication, two counts of assault on law enforcement, and obstruction of justice. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $10,000 secured bond. |
