| An unknown problem occurring at a residence on Garrisonville Road quickly escalated when a 26-year-old Fredericksburg woman assaulted a deputy. On December 23rd at approximately 1:55 a.m. deputies responded to the 1000 block of Garrisonville Road for an unknown problem. Dispatch received a call regarding a screaming female. As the caller attempted to provide information to dispatchers, the female would continue screaming and tell the caller that she loves him. When deputies arrived, they located a male and female. They attempted to converse with both parties separately when the female quickly stated the male had a gun. Out of an abundance of caution, deputies made contact with the male and discovered he did not have any weapons. Instead, the female would begin to assault one of the deputies. Deputies would attempt to detain her when she would resist and attempt to continue her assault. After a brief struggle, the female was detained. With that out of the way, deputies could now begin determining what occurred. The male advised he was in his residence when the female began knocking on his door. When he opened the door, the female forced her way into the residence and in the process assaulted the male. The male did not know the female and the female displayed multiple signs of intoxication. The female, Tyra Powell, was charged with assault and battery, assault and battery on law enforcement, public intoxication, and obstruction of justice. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail pending her ability to participate in a bond hearing. |
