A juvenile already facing charges received additional ones after a late-night incident that resulted in a deputy being assaulted.

On April 19th at approximately 10:42 p.m. deputies responded to the Cambridge Crossing Subdivision for a disturbance. It was advised a juvenile, who was under house arrest for a strangulation charge, cut off his ankle monitor and fled the residence. Due to his underlying charge and his whereabouts being unknown, deputies were quickly in the area in an attempt to locate him.

A sergeant observed the juvenile walking on Saphire Street and attempted to communicate with him. Instead, the suspect began fleeing on foot. Deputies responded to the area and cut off all escape routes. While attempting to detain him, the suspect would assault a deputy before being placed into handcuffs. The deputy was not injured.

Criminal complaints for assault and battery on law enforcement, obstruction of justice, and destruction of property were submitted. Juvenile Intake was contacted and due to the circumstances, decided to detain him. The suspect was held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
