Yesterday, at approximately 2:45 p.m. deputies responded to the 200 block of Streamview Drive in the Rappahannock Landing subdivision for multiple calls of shots fired. When deputies arrived, they located a 42-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies attempted to conduct life saving measures until Fire and Rescue could arrive and take over. Unfortunately, the victim, Derrick Campbell of Stafford, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives worked through the night collecting evidence and talking with witnesses. While it is still the preliminary stages of our investigation, it appears the victim and suspect knew each other and this was not a random act of violence.
