A 24-year-old Fredericksburg man ‘s luck ran out when he ran out of gas last night. Luckily, deputies had enough gas to take him to Rappahannock Regional Jail.

On June 6th at approximately 11:31 p.m. a resident on Town and Country Road had an unexpected alarm clock. He was awoken to someone knocking on his door asking for money. The suspect advised he was out of gas and needed money.

Deputy S.A. Hensley responded to the suspicious person call to locate a vehicle halfway in the roadway. The driver admitted to driving the vehicle until it ran out of gas. He also admitted to consuming alcohol since about 1:00 p.m. That was apparent due to the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Deputy Hensley located a rather large amount of alcoholic beverages in the passenger seat, many of which were opened.

After field sobriety tests, the driver was charged with driving under the influence, as well as, drinking while driving. Deputy Hensley, with more than enough gas, transported the driver to Rappahannock Regional Jail where he was held until sober.
