An 18-year-old Dumfries man went directly to jail and did not pass Go after crashing his Jaguar Sunday morning.

On May 21st at approximately 6:30 a.m. Deputy R.J. Kemp responded to Jason Lane, just past Free Parking, for a report of an auto accident. It was advised there were three vehicles and a mailbox involved. When Deputy Kemp arrived on scene, the striking vehicle, a Jaguar, was still in drive, and the driver was unconscious.

Within the vehicle, Deputy Kemp didn’t locate a thimble or top hat, but instead multiple cans of alcohol. When the driver came to, he had glassy eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Instead of staying at a hotel on New York Avenue or St. James Place, the driver took a Chance Card and got behind the wheel after taking a couple of shots after a graduation party.

The driver’s run around the board would earn him multiple charges that will cost more than just Monopoly money. The 18-year-old driver was charged with driving under the influence second offense within five years, illegal consumption of alcohol, illegal possession of alcohol, violation of a restricted license, and two counts of destruction of property. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $10,000 secured bond.
