All for one and all to jail. Three individuals ended their journey with a trip to Rappahannock Regional Jail following their failed fraud attempt.

On May 16th at approximately 4:20 p.m. deputies responded to Navy Federal Credit Union located at 100 Corporate Drive, for a report of a fraud in progress. Staff advised a female, who looked to be in her twenties, was attempting to impersonate a 52-year-old woman in order to fraudulently cash a check. If that wasn’t fishy enough, staff had information that it was not her first time attempting this. The same female was seen attempting to fraudulently use a credit card in Prince William at a different Navy Federal.

Deputies arrived in the area as the female entered a vehicle that quickly left the scene. Sergeant B.U. Demirci, Deputy A.J. Deasy, and Deputy C.R. Newman located the vehicle within moments of arriving and conducted a traffic stop. Inside the vehicle was the driver, identified as Aubrey Alston, 30, of Richmond, a front passenger, identified as Johathan Gregory II, 28, of Richmond, and the female suspect, identified as Nyasia Berry, 23, of North Chesterfield. Berry was located with a forged check with an amount over $8,350.

The investigation, while still ongoing, revealed all three were involved in multiple credit card thefts. Alston was charged with two counts of credit card theft, forgery, uttering, obtaining money by false pretenses, and identity theft. Gregory was charged with the same, two counts of credit card theft, forgery, uttering, obtaining money by false pretenses, and identity theft. Berry was seeing double after being charged with two counts of forgery, two counts of uttering, two counts of identity theft, two counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, and two counts of credit card theft. While all three traveled together to commit this crime, all three were transported separately to Rappahannock Regional Jail where they were held without bond. Detectives are currently working with Prince William County with their case, and more charges may be obtained.
