“Look over there” is one of the oldest tricks in the book; however, not the best to try and pull on a deputy. One wanted Stafford woman found that out over the weekend.

On April 29th at approximately 4:04 p.m. Deputy J.D. Hurt was in the area of the Holiday Inn Express, located at 15 Salisbury Drive. While there, he observed a female he knew to be wanted walking a dog. The woman was wanted out of Stafford for larceny. Deputy Hurt made contact with the female suspect, as well as, the man she was with.

Deputy Hurt, unknowingly, got a two for one special. The male suspect was also discovered to be wanted out of Spotsylvania for violation of pretrial release. Both were informed of their active warrants and were detained. During their conversation, the female attempted to pull a fast one on Deputy Hurt and slipped a suspected controlled substance into the male’s pocket. Considering the female was not The Flash, Deputy Hurt observed the distribution occur pretty easily. Deputy Hurt confronted the female about what his watchful eyes just witnessed and the female suspect admitted was “stupid” and she shouldn’t have done that. She was indeed correct and it earned her extra charges.

The female was charged with possession of a controlled substance, as well as, distribution of a controlled substance. She was also served on her outstanding warrant and was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 secured bond. The male suspect was served on his outstanding warrant and held without bond.
