A wanted Stafford woman gets herself caught with extra charges after making the poor choice to cut off a deputy.

On April 15th at approximately 2:01 a.m. Deputy X.D. Bates was at the intersection of Town Square Circle and Richmond Highway with a Mustang in the lane next to him. As both vehicles began to turn left, the Mustang merged into Deputy Bates lane, nearly causing an accident. Deputy Bates quickly initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.

The driver, Carol Major, 59, was discovered to be wanted out of Stafford for possession of controlled substances. When Deputy Bates informed her of this and that she needed to step out of the vehicle, Major acted surprised by the news.

Sergeant M.L. Jacobeen responded to assist and located a firearm in the driver’s side floorboard. The woman wanted for possession of a controlled substance was also discovered to be in possession of controlled substances. Both the firearm and controlled substances were seized. When asked why she nearly merged into Deputy Bates, Major advised she was trying to get to Wawa.

Wawa would have to wait for Major, for she was charged with possession of a controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substances, as well as, the traffic lane violation. She was also served on her outstanding warrant. Major was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
