On March 29th Deputy D.J. Taylor was at Stafford Middle School, located at 101 Spartan Drive, performing his daily School Resource Officer duties. At approximately 2:00 p.m. school staff approached Deputy Taylor about a report of a student having a knife. Multiple students reported seeing the same student with the knife. School staff further advised the student was already searched by staff and while no knife was located, a THC based vape pen and tobacco based vape pen were located.

With the help of school staff, Deputy Taylor located the knife in a trash can. The blade of the knife measured approximately 5 inches. The student admitted to threatening other students while in possession of the knife, saying it was a “joke”.

Deputy Taylor submitted criminal complaints on the student and Juvenile Intake was contacted. Juvenile Intake issued a detention order and the student was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. The school has also suspended the student for the rest of the year. Deputy Taylor is still investigating this incident.

Thank you to school staff for immediately reporting this dangerous situation to the Sheriff’s Office.
