A Stafford man was arrested once again for driving under the influence after falling asleep in the McDonald’s drive thru line Sunday morning.

On March 12th, at approximately 12:42 a.m., Deputy T.A. Vasquez responded to McDonald’s located at 419 Chatham Heights Road. The caller advised there was a man asleep at the wheel in the drive-thru line. Deputy Vasquez arrived on scene and observed the driver still asleep. Deputy Vasquez was able to wake up the driver who had glassy, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. After conducting field sobriety tests, the driver was taken into custody.

The driver, identified as Shane Bond, 32, refused to provide a breath test and was subsequently taken to the hospital to have his blood drawn to identify his blood alcohol content. While with hospital staff, Bond was able to flee the hospital on foot. Deputy Vasquez was able to locate Bond, chase up with him, and get him back into custody.

Bond was charged with his sixth driving under the influence offense, as well as, driving while revoked, two counts of refusal, and two counts of obstruction of justice. Bond was held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail.
