Two inmates have extended their stay at Rappahannock Regional Jail after assaulting an inmate.

On March 11th, at approximately 9:49 p.m., Deputy E.R. Houde responded to the Rappahannock Regional Jail for a report of an assault. Correctional officers advised that two inmates attacked another inmate as soon as his cell was opened. Correctional officers were able to separate each party.

The two involved, Damien Richardson, 31, of Spotsylvania, and Thomas Hale Jr., 24, of Ruther Glen, were interviewed on what occurred. Richardson, who was found to have suspected controlled substances, was charged with prisoner in possession of controlled substances, as well as, assault by mob. Hale was charged with strangulation, as well as, assault by mob. The victim was not seriously injured.
