A recently arrested Florida man made the poor choice to assault law enforcement, which may prolong his stay in Stafford County.

Leskeil Richards, 27, was the passenger in a pursuit that occurred on March 1st in the area of the Juvenile Detention Center. Richards fled from law enforcement, provided a false identity once caught, and forged documents his first round in Stafford courts.

On March 3rd at approximately 9:26 a.m. court was in session. Richards had just had his arraignment in General District Court for his forgery charges. As he was being escorted to the holding area, another deputy was escorting a different prisoner into a cell. Richards, instead of following directions, walked to the deputy and assaulted him. Richards actions were quickly halted by deputies.

Richards’ ever-growing list of charges will grow a bit bigger with an assault on law enforcement charge. The Commonwealth Attorney will determine if deputies seek a warrant from the magistrate, or if the case is heard by a Grand Jury. The deputy was not injured during the incident.
